Healthcheck or Maturity Model Review
We’ve lost count of the number of clients who have asked us to “improve our programmes and projects delivery”, “make us better at project management” or simply “sort out this mess”.
In order to understand what “better” delivery means for any organisation, a baseline for where they are needs to be established, in order to typically answer these questions:
- Do you know what your issues or problem areas are?
- Do you know what better programme or project delivery (success) looks like in this organisation?
- How will you measure any increase in performance improvement?
To answer these basic questions we undertake a heathcheck or maturity model review. This includes a review of the current portfolio, programme or project management capability against OGC’s P3M3™ model and we record our findings and recommendations in a capability healthcheck report.
We also undertake healthchecks on an individual programme or project at specific stage gates to offer an independent assessment of the readiness to progress to the next stage or we may be brought in to review a perceived “failing” programme or project to determine the underlying factors and propose a rescue package.
Who would benefit from this package?
- Portfolio, Programme or Project Capability healthcheck or maturity model review - anyone who is responsible for portfolio, programme or project management capability within an organisation either as Head of P3O® or as a senior manager or director charged with developing change capability.
- Independent healthcheck / review on a specific programme or project - a Sponsor or SRO responsible for delivery of the programme or project.
What do we do?
- Scoping meeting to understand business drivers, expected outcomes and benefits, timescales
- Carry out a healthcheck / review of the existing capability of the portfolio, programme or project with recommendations on the way forward to include interviews and focus groups with key staff, desk check of processes and documentation and mini audits to ensure reality matches the theory
- Produce a Review Report supported by an implementation plan / roadmap to deliver recommendations
- Support the internal team in implementing recommendations
